valley. while it's 62 degrees in delaware with clear skies for wilmington. 62 now. it will be cooler just before sunrise. at 61 degrees. then with sunshine, it's middle 70s for wilmington and we are watching for some areas of fog. you can see a little bit of it in this view from easton this morning. the fog won't last. most areas are fog-free this morning. from the 50s into the 60s, by later this morning, 77 degrees in the lehigh valley. for philadelphia, 64 degrees right now. middle 80s this afternoon with sunny skies for philadelphia and plenty of sunshine for the rest of the area. the good news is the humidity, like yesterday, is going to stay on the low side. a little bit of a sea breeze. cooler at the jersey shore. look at the forecast hour by hour when i come back in just a few minutes. first, jessica boyington is watching the roads has your first alert update. >> starting off on 95 around girard avenue. we're seeing a lot of cars out considering it's only the 5:00 hour, at least the beginning of that. you can see the southbound
traffic into center city still moving. the drive times are okay from woodhaven road into center city where the vine street expressway is, you'll be good there. 422, no problems here. that eastbound trip, eight minutes. maybe a minute increase right now from 29 to the schuylkill with speeds still into the 60s no matter which direction you're going in. watching this egg harbor exit ramp, off the atlantic city expressway headed eastbound. if you're moving down towards the shore area, the garden state parkway northbound exit ramp is closed, that's exit 7 an they should be cleaning that up very soon. more updates and we'll check in with the vine street expressway when i come back. vai? >> thank you, jessica. now to decision 2016. election day is less than two months away. pennsylvania remains a big political prize. >> democrats and republicans both think they can win the state. that's why president obama is coming to philadelphia today and donald trump will visit delaware county. nbc 10's pamela osborne is live in center city with more on the visits today. pam? >> tracy, at 2:00 this afternoon, president obama is expected to speak here at eakins
oval. take a look. you can see police already have this area blocked off this morning. lane restrictions around the oval and detours doing into effect beginning at 6:00 this morning. if you're driving this way, if you typically come this way, you'll want to pay attention to some of these detours. kelly drive will be detoured, inbound at fairmont avenue. mlk drive and spring garden traffic will be detoured on to 676. at 9:00, the area surrounding and leading up to the oval will be closed. president obama is expected to arrive at philly international airport at 1:00 this afternoon. he's here to campaign for clinton at a hillary for america event. then president obama will participate in a dnc event before flying out to new york city. later this evening, republican presidential candidate donald trump will be campaigning at the astin community center in delaware county. that's happening at 7:30 and that event is closed to the public. we also want to let you no he as we come back out here live this
morning that we have a full list of those closures and detours. also expect to hear more from jessica boyington about how to get around this when everything closes down. reporting live outside eakins oval, i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. >> pamela, thank you. 5:03. 64 degrees outside. fire roared through a lumberyard just outside harrisburg overnight. fire companies from three counties battle flames and smoke that broke out in lemoyne. all the buildings and dried wood on the property were destroyed. happening today, battle over katie mcginty's e-mails goes to court. last year, pennsylvania's republican party requested her e-mails for the six months she was governor tom wolf's chief of staff. they released a fraction of from 15,000 e-mails. many of the messages were irrelevant, they said.
the case will be heard later today in harrisburg. mcginty is running against incumbent republican senator pat toomey. and new information this morning in the bridgegate scandal in north jersey. two former al loos of governor chris christie plan to testify in their own defense at their criminal trial. that's the word from attorneys for bridget kelly and bill baroni. jury selection is under way in the case right now. prosecutors claim the lanes near the george washington bridge were shut down as an act of political evenk against a local democratic mayor who did not support the republican governor. today pennsylvania supreme court will hear arguments in a case that could change how school funding is divided in the commonwealth. six school districts from across the state, parents and community groups filed a lawsuit claiming the department of education failed to give school children the resources they need. two of the parents in the case have children who attend philadelphia schools. faculty members at pennsylvania's 14 state
universities are calling for a strike. according to the union, more than 09% of its faculty members have voted to authorize a strike. the union's president says the strike remains a last resort and they won't set a date until after friday's negotiation session. faculty members are upset over the use of temporary staff, salary cuts and medical costs. 5:05 right now. 64 degrees outside. at least four people are hurt from violent -- a violent late-night crash in mercer county. >> two cars collided and police have been investigating the wreck throughout the evening. nbc 10's matt delucia is live at the scene. what can you tell us? >> the crash is under investigation. by the mercer county prosecutor's office, police are still here at the scene. let's show you video of what this looked like a little while ago when those two vehicles were here at the intersection of broad street and west park avenue. this happened around 10:00 last night. two cars crashed, one of them overturned. as you can see there, a lot of
damage. four people rushed to the hospital. no confirmation of fatalities at this point. a relative of one of the victims did stop by overnight and briefly talk with police before leaving the scene. but, again, police have been here for quite a while. there are a lot of police here earlier. they're not talking about what happened. they're referring us to a spokesperson who has not yet returned our calls. i want to show you something that happened in the last half hour. the 7-eleven, a worker says right before the crash he saw a police car going by very fast on broad street right by the store, then he heard the crash happen an a lot more police showed up a few minutes later. that's pretty much all we know at this point. you can see here, police still have the northbound lanes of broad street here blocked off at this intersection. the southbound lanes are still able to get by. you can see there's also utility crews working at the scene. they were removing one of the utility poles. you might be able to see at the
top of this traffic light here, half of that utility pole is still stuck up there. there's a lot of work going on at this hour. we'll try to get more updates about the crash itself and the victims throughout the morning. for now i'm live in hamilton township, mercer county, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. matt, thank you. today police officers and teens are coming together in burlington county. they'll be talking about how to break down barriers between officers and teenagers. during the event in west hampton, they'll go through scenarios allowing the teens to play the role of a police officer. tax trouble is brewing on the main line. neighbors say the lower merion school district is hiking taxes when it already has millions of dollars in extra money. nbc 10 was at the school board meeting last night where taxpayers voiced concerns. a judge recently ruled in favor of taxpayer who sued over the latest tax increase. the judge ordered the school district to rework its proposed spending plan and limited the amount of the tax hike. neighbors who learned that the district has built up a $57
million surplus over the years had mixed response to the board's plan. >> it's a disgrace. you've lied to us for ten full years. shame on you. >> i believe the taxes i pay for education and i am retired, will benefit not only the students' future but my future with educated leaders. >> the district is apaelg the lawsuit ruling. happening today, a sure sign that fall is almost here. eastern state penitentiary is putting gargoyles up on top of the prison as part of the annual terror behind the walls. the unhaunted attraction opens up friday. frank and carson are six-foot tall gargoyles that will greet visitors to the haunted house with smoke and flashing lights. there they are. scary. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> things are looking eerie
outside with a bit of fog right now. we're watching for it in some spots. not everybody will see it. the lehigh valley, getting spots of fog and some of the suburbs as well. the temperatures will be climbing. we're in for a sunny and warm day with plenty of sunshine for our area. and the humidity stays in check which means a really pleasant evening, a comfortably cool evening this evening with clear skies. we will see plenty of sunshine. right now, the temperatures have dropped into the 50s and 60s. fleetwood is 60 degrees. 52 degrees in white hall. the cooler temperatures this morning have allowed humidity to be a little on the high side this morning. it will be dropping nicely this afternoon. very low humidity as the temperatures warm into the 80s. 85 degrees this afternoon for philadelphia. tomorrow, 92 degrees and thursday, 78 degrees. we'll see a similar warmup in the suburbs. 86 degrees today. 90 tomorrow and then the cooler
zone is back on thursday. for the lehigh valley, into the middle 80s after starting off in the 50s, tomorrow, close to the 90 degree mark with partly cloudy skies late in the day an a cooler day on thursday. what about new jersey and the jersey shore? 80s today inland new jersey at the shore. a bit a sea breeze. sunny skies and 77. both areas warm up tomorrow into the lower 90s for inland areas, 88 degrees at the shore on wednesday. both areas cool down for thursday. and for delaware, sunny skies and really nice today. 86 degrees the high temperature. normal high temperature is in the upper 70s. we're above normal today and hotter tomorrow. 92, the humidity will be a bit higher tomorrow but not those extreme levels we felt last week. by thursday we're drying out. cooling down, high of 78 agrees in delaware. look at the 10 day on 10 to show you when we might finally get rainfall when i'm back in just a few minutes. >> oh, rain. >> rainfall. >> my lawn is so brown. >> we could use some rain.
>> 5:10 right now. >> first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington is watching the 42 freeway. >> we're watching 42 through south jersey and it looks great so far. the northbound traffic, right in here, is what is headed towards philadelphia, around route 41 through deptford. no problems or delays right now. northbound from 55 headed up to the walt whitman bridge over into philadelphia, just a five-minute trip. if you're headed down south, the shore points, you'll be fine there as well. the blue route, let's check in with drive times, 14 minutes, 15 the the most if you're headed southbound from the schuylkill to 95 with speeds into the 60s. the vine street expressway is back open. earlier we were dealing with construction closing it in both directions. end on a good note here. headed westbound towards the schuylkill, no problems and eastbound towards 95 is good, too. more updates when i come back. olympic swimmer ryan lochte is back in the spotlight, this time far away from the pool and he has company. next, hear who suddenly appeared

during the rio olympics lochte lied about being robbed at a gas station. > . one woman filed a civil lawsuit last week, the other filed a complaint two weeks ago against dr. larry nasser. the women allege that the doctor inappropriately touched them and other teammates when 1994 and 2000 and made sexual comments toward them. an attorney for dr. nasser says he has not been charged with a crime and denies those allegations. 49ers quarterback colin kaepernick is now in his third week of protesting the national anthem. ♪ last night in san francisco, a kneeling kaepernick was joined by teammate eric reed. several other players on both the 49ers and l.a. rams remained standing but raise a fist in
protest. kaepernick was the first nfl player this season to voice concerns over the racial inequality and police brutality. locally the diocese of camden is warning its students they will be suspended if they take a knee during the national anthem. fans are still buzzing over the winning debut of eagles rookie quarterback sensation carson wentz. >> impressive is the word we keep hearing. we threw a pair of touchdown passes, one to jordan matthews, another one to jason agholor. head coach doug pederson said he was thrilled by carson's presence on the field. >> for him to have that kind of poise in the pocket for his first start and really only having about four series throughout the entire training camp, you just can't teach that. >> tracy likes coach speak. poise in the pocket. that's going to be your new

area later on this morning. i'll tell you when it starts and what it affects. starting at 6:00 a.m., there will be lanes closed around eakins oval. at 7:00 a.m., mlk drive and spring garden street will be detoured on to the vine street expressway. a lot of extra traffic around a really bad time. also at 9:00 a.m., a few hours into the beginning of the closures, eakins oval and the surrounding roads will also be closed. a lot of roads heading into the center city area. this area around the eakins oval. we need alternates. ridge avenue is one for you right here. it pretty much runs flex to the entire event that will be backed up as well. broad street runs through center city or you can always take the schuylkill expressway or the vine street expressway as you get on a major. expect more volume at the time and leave yourself a little extra time before you do it. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> 20 minutes after 6:00. we will see plenty of sunshine today. nice, clear view across the
delaware, no sign of any fog in the city. just a few spots in some of the suburbs as temperatures have cooled down overnight. we have a range of temperatures just in the city. andorra 59 degrees, along with parkside. brewery tonight is 56 and 50s and low 60s in northeast philadelphia while fox chase is 64 degrees. 56 degrees in somerton. a really pleasant and cool start. some areas cooler than yesterday by a lot. 9 degrees cooler in vineland this morning compared to yesterday. while philadelphia is one degree warmer at that 64. the 50s, the 60s will warm into the 80s this afternoon. just a tad bit warmer than yesterday. the winds, they'll become more southerly today. that will help with the warmup, also bring a little bit of humidity back into the area. it's still going to be nice and comfortable today. still so low yesterday. a little bit of an increase, won't be bad today. a 7 mile-an-hour wind, that's at noontime today. watch the winds this afternoon at the shore.
increasing to 12 miles an hour for atlantic city, 10 miles an hour in wildwood and stronger in rehoboth. that will keep the temperatures in the 70s along the coastline. inland, we're warming into the 80s this afternoon. with no sign of any rain in the near future, we are in the clear this morning. lots of sunshine today. plenty of sunshine tomorrow. though there will be some clouds. this is a cold front that's moving through the midwest. look at those showers and thunderstorms. we need some of that rain but we will only get a slight chance of showers. what we will likely get is the warm air surging in front of those showers. we'll start feeling that today and even more so tomorrow. 85 degrees this afternoon. tomorrow into the low 90s. a little bit more humid tomorrow, partly sunny skies later in the day. if we do get a shower from that passing system, it will come through tomorrow night. most areas will stay dry. look at the turnaround, 90s tomorrow, upper 70s tomorrow afternoon. the wind will be blowing, bringing in drier air which
